At the beginning of August 1991, Roger Moore was appointed UNICEF's special representative from the film world, and for the symbolic fee of one dollar, he will be spending the year promoting children's causes. In countries torn by civil war, struck by natural disasters and affected by deep poverty, he visited hospitals, opened village taps bringing pipe water to the people, and also launched numerous health initiatives. He visited Guatemala, Costa Rica, El Salvador and Honduras, and wherever he went, Roger was immediately recognised and given a hero's welcome. Everywhere he was besieged by eager autograph hunters.
A fascinating short film narrated by Sir Roger Moore telling the history, success and ongoing efforts to eradicate the pain and suffering of children in less fortunate parts of the world. In just a few minutes you will understand UNICEF.
“To unite the world to guarantee every child's right to health education, equality and protection. This is our mission” Sir Roger Moore.
